This fourth webinar in our Creating Colour series will focus on working with digital colour. We’re excited to welcome highly regarded artist and educator, Steve Forster (Long Island Academy of Fine Art, USA), to present the talk. This webinar is free but registration is essential and limited to 100 participants worldwide, so early registration is advised. We thank CSA NSW Division committee members Veronica Colvin and Jean Pretorius for organizing this presentation.

In this 45 min webinar Steve will give us a taste of his digital creative process, in particular the way he approaches and creates diversity in colours and colour palettes. Starting with a brief overview of differences – and similarities – between the digital and traditional painting processes, he will show how he structures digital palettes when painting portraits, landscapes and more abstract themes. This will be followed by a “wild colour” illustration where, building on a value structure (in the sense of Munsell), he goes on to use the full range of colour expression that digital tools provide.
There will be a 15min Q&A session at the end of the talk, giving an opportunity to raise issues that cannot be covered in a brief introduction.
Steve Forster was born in Boston but spent most of his life in central Florida. He was educated at the Florence Academy of Art in Italy and the New York Academy of Art, where he received his MFA in 2010. Since then he has exhibited and taught extensively, both in the US and internationally. He is currently Co-Director of the Long Island Academy of Fine Art where he teaches in person and online, and he has previously taught painting at the New York Academy of Art.
Steve’s paintings have been exhibited in solo and group shows nationally and internationally and he is currently represented by Island Weiss Gallery in NYC and Grenning Gallery in Sag Harbor. You can see more of Steve's work on his website and Instagram page.
