“The resort of kings, the garden of France, the lands of arts and letters and the cradle of the Renaissance: the Loire valley.”  Jean-Marie Perouse de Montelos

Mention of French interiors (and exteriors) evokes images of Louis XIV, XV and XVI and the Empire. French interior design ranges from the Baroque, Rococo and Neo-classical styles through to modern-day designers such as Philip Starck creating decorated spaces for Francois Mitterrand.

Come on a colour journey through the Loire Valley with Virginia Handel and visit some French interiors and exterior designs encountered along the way. The journey will embrace world famous French chateaux with creative spaces and the countryside romanticism of French farmhouse style. We will also briefly visit some of the key elements of French interior design. This is the third in a series of international colour journeys presented by Virginia Handel for the Colour Society of Australia in recent years.

Virginia Handel is Secretary of the NSW Division of the Colour Society of Australia. Virginia is an interior designer and has also had a very distinguished medical career and extensive experience in undergraduate, postgraduate and clinical teaching. Her previous internationally-themed colour presentations to the NSW Division of the CSA have included The Colours of Scandinavia at Great Dane and Autumn in New England at Cromwell Furniture.

This webinar is free but registration is essential and limited to 100 participants worldwide, so early registration is advised. Successful registrants will be advised by reply email and will be sent the link and instructions to join the webinar on the Zoom platform shortly before the event.

This webinar is one of a series presented free of charge by the Colour Society of Australia NSW Division during the covid-19 crisis. These webinars are open to CSA members and non-members around Australia and the world, but as a reward to our wonderful members we make bookings available for members only for about a week before we announce the event publicly. (Please note that our last webinar with paint-maker Michael Harding was booked out a full week in advance). Now that this event has been opened to non-members please feel free to let others know about it using the link https://coloursociety.org.au/event-3896240.

Members also have exclusive access to our growing archive of video recordings, lecture slides and other resources from earlier CSA presentations in the Member's Area of the CSA website. A recording of the Michael Harding webinar and a collection of slides from Peter Tasker's presentation on Murobond paints in February were added to this archive recently, along with several resources that we had available from previous years, and we hope to continue to add resources from all of our coming presentations. If you're not already a member please consider joining the CSA  to help us to continue our activities such as this free webinar series. Our membership year runs from July to June so now is the perfect time to join, and if you've been adversely affected by the coronavirus crisis please don't hesitate to pay the Concession rate for the coming year.

The next webinar in our series, with CSA royalty Annamaria di Cara FDIA on Thursday August 27 (not August 26 as previously advised), Please see the announcement in the notices below.
